Kaitlan and Andrew’s Seattle wedding is one of those days I still think about, even more than a year later. From the very beginning, they knew exactly what they wanted from their photos and their day as a whole. They were drawn to work that felt timeless, true to life, and natural. That same mindset carried through every part of their wedding. From the venues they chose to the way they blended American and Korean traditions, their celebration felt thoughtful, warm, and personal. We photographed much of their day on film, along with an incredible collection of Polaroids, which fit perfectly with how Kaitlan and Andrew wanted their wedding remembered. Simple, meaningful, and exactly as it was.

One of my favorite parts of this wedding was seeing how Kaitlan and Andrew honored both of their backgrounds throughout the day. Incorporating American and Korean traditions added so much meaning, especially for their families. Leading up to the ceremony, we did a Hanbok (traditional Korean dress) photoshoot in a separate area of Seattle and it was such a pleasure!

One of my favorite parts of photographing multicultural weddings is getting to know the couple & their traditions. For example, they educated me on Korean etiquette for addressing family members by titles rather than first names. Knowing things like this ahead of time makes such a difference in creating a tailored experience & gallery for my couples! Those conversations allow me to be mindful, prepared, and respectful, and it helps create a smoother, more comfortable experience for everyone involved. These are the kinds of details that really matter on a wedding day.

Kaitlan and Andrew began their wedding day at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Seattle, and it was truly stunning. Both the main sanctuary and the smaller chapel are filled with character, beautiful light, and architectural details that photograph so well. It’s one of those spaces that feels grand without feeling overwhelming.

Their ceremony reflected the classic style they were drawn to. Kaitlan wore a chic white gown with a long lace-trimmed veil, and Andrew chose a timeless tux. The overall look was elegant without feeling overdone, and the setting complemented the vibes perfectly. Once they exchanged vows & we took a few bridal portraits inside the showstopping sanctuary, we loaded up and headed downtown.

The celebration continued with a reception at Axis Pioneer Square, a studio and gallery space in Seattle WA. With exposed brick, tall ceilings, and incredible natural texture, it offers all the quintessential Seattle vibes. Aside from being an aesthetic space, it’s location is everything! Because Axis Pioneer Square is in the heart of downtown Seattle, out of town guests have endless options for both lodging and activities after the wedding has ended. It’s a gem!

I would be doing future couples & guests a disservice if I wasn’t completely candid about its one downside: the parking. It’s a challenge to say the least. There are paid lots available, but be prepared to spend a small fortune to park in those areas. If you’re extra lucky, street parking is sometimes available. My advice? Guests should plan to carpool and split the cost of nearby paid lots! And no worries as far as vendors are concerned– there’s a back alley for loading and unloading. Believe me, this venue more than makes up for the parking situation!

Kaitlan and Andrew’s reception was full of life. Guests of all ages filled the dance floor, champagne flowed during heartfelt toasts, and we even stepped outside for a few downtown portraits that captured the energy of the city perfectly. They absolutely nailed the food as well. Not only was it delicious, it was memorable enough that I still think about it. Being well-fed during a long wedding day truly makes a difference, and they did not disappoint!

This wedding was a perfect example of why I love photographing days like this. Kaitlan and Andrew cared deeply about preserving how their wedding felt, not just how it looked. From film photography to Polaroids, classic details to meaningful traditions, every choice was intentional without feeling forced. It was an honor to document it all.
