Creative Cliffside Wedding at Griffin House Hood River

When couples are able to trust & connect with their photographer, it makes all the difference in the world. That was certainly the case with Autumn and Peter when I shot their wedding at Griffin House in Hood River.  As two creatives themselves, they poured their hearts & souls into the details of the day. They also understood my artistry and fully trusted me.  From the jaw dropping venue itself to the warmth Autumn & Peter projected, their wedding day was unlike any other.

They have dedicated staff to set-up and take down, a getting ready space on site, as well as a clear tent for an outdoor reception.  Above all, this venue boasts sweeping views of the gorge from the breathtaking cliffs overlooking the water below.  It made for a stunning backdrop for this couple’s whimsical wedding day!

When it comes to Autumn & Peter’s big day at The Griffin House, the creativity and artistry that went into the day is unmatched. They are both incredible and such light! Those aspects of their relationship dynamic and personalities as  whole shone through in every detail of the day. As two people in the artistic fields of the film industry, so many aspects of the wedding were either made directly by the couple or by their incredible friends.

All of the signage was customized by Peter, while all set pieces were created by Autumn. Between these elements and the colorful floral arrangements, their wedding day was absolutely brimming with charm & whimsy.  Because they trusted me with their vision, I was able to fully capture the spirit of their wedding without reservation.

Ceremony & Reception at Griffin House Good River

Autumn and Peter exchanged vows surrounded by close friends and family with panoramic views of the gorge.  It’s already been said, but the scenery at Griffin House is otherworldly and even more breathtaking in person.  One of the things I loved most about this venue was, despite the sweeping views & expansive property, everything still felt close enough together for convenience’s sake. (This is really helpful for timelines and feeling more at ease on your wedding day!)

In addition, although the location feels remote, there are plenty of lodging options for guests nearby. This is especially convenient for wedding guests who may be traveling.  It’s such a beautiful option for couples seeking an awe-inspiring location and VIP levels of support from their venue.

Tips for Hood River Weddings 

If Griffin House speaks to your soul, there are a few things to keep in mind as you plan the Hood River wedding of your dreams.  First, please be aware that this is the windsurf capital of the US. This makes it a popular destination for the summer months.  Because of this, you’ll want to be sure to book hotel blocks early or you run the risk of logistical issues with lodging. 

Second, hear me when I say it is windy! The gorge is a truly beautiful place, but the wind that results is no joke.  You’ll want to be sure to have a conversation with your florist about keeping floral arrangements stable and secure.  For the same reason, I strongly recommend brides consider wearing their hair up, lest you will be fighting an uphill battle in photos and in real life the entire day. That said, the wind is totally worth it for the experience and views this Oregon wedding  venue offers! Autumn and Peter’s gallery serves as proof.
