MOSSFLOOR

Alyse and Josh’s Washington State wedding at Edison Granary was the perfect example of a ceremony rooted in connection. Their day was bright, creative, and completely infused with the heart of the people who helped bring it to life. This Wes Anderson Summer Camp themed wedding had guests feeling right at home the moment they arrived! As someone with a deep appreciation for summer camp style celebrations, I knew I was in for a good time with these two.

Edison Granary is a true blank-slate space in the best possible way. It’s clean, simple, and ready for any vision you bring to it. Alyse and Josh filled it with color, hand-painted details, and homegrown florals for their Wes Anderson summer camp themed nuptials. Their friends and family helped with set-up and décor, which made their day that much more meaningful.

Because the venue is still on the newer side, couples should plan to bring in their décor, catering, and design support. It’s a great match for creative couples or anyone who wants to make the space feel personal. Eidson is quiet and peaceful, but it’s also only about 15 minutes from Burlington, which gives guests easy access to groceries, hotels, and anything they might need. It’s truly a gem!

I’m no stranger to summer-camp-themed celebrations, and they hold a special place in my heart. Alyse and Josh leaned into the theme with so much intention. Their guests stayed at Deception Pass campgrounds, which created a full weekend experience. Everyone spent real time together, and you could feel that connection in every part of their day.

They designed their own invitations, made their signage, and included fun camp-style touches everywhere. They even exchanged their vows through megaphones like camp counselors. A friend hand-painted the floral details on their ceremony arch, and it became a centerpiece of the day. I love photographing weddings like this that are colorful, handmade, and centered around togetherness. Alyse and Josh planned their day with clarity and intention, and it paid off tenfold.

After their first look at Deception Pass, they snuck away with two friends to sign their license in a quiet corner of the park. They wanted a quieter space to handle the paperwork so that they didn’t take away from the celebratory time post-ceremony. Continuing with the theme of doing things their way, Alyse + Josh also approached the ceremony itself differently. Rather than having a wedding party, they walked down the aisle with their parents. It was simple, meaningful, and such a sweet reminder that you can shape your day however you want. There are no rules here. Choose what feels right, and let the rest go.

If you love color and personality, this wedding was a dream. The reception had blue-and-white gingham picnic cloths, bright pennant flags, and details that made the space feel playful and nostalgic. The canoe marked with “Just Married” doubled as a drink station and fit the theme perfectly.

Alyse’s mother grew every flower used throughout the day. Not only was this deeply sentimental, the florals were bright, seasonal, and full of movement. Her bouquet was stunning! Their cakes were decorated with the same summer blooms.

One of my favorite parts was seeing how happy their guests were. They laughed, lounged, snacked on an oversized grazing table, and enjoyed every moment. Alyse and Josh wanted people to feel joy, silliness, and ease. Fifty years from now, I know these photos will bring all that emotion right back.
