Sean and Angelica’s wedding at Barker House was everything you’d expect of a classic New England wedding– but with a twist! While the coastal Massachusetts influence was certainly there, I had a front row seat to Haitian traditions and flare that Angelica held near & dear to her for her big day. Connecting with this incredible couple as I photographed their beautiful day is something I’ll treasure for years to come.
Barker House by Wedgewood Weddings, located in Scituate, MA, is a New England hidden gem. Part of the house itself dates back to the 1600s and it’s brimming with historical charm. Apart from the inviting architectural details such as exposed beams, Barker House has endless features. This venue also boasts all season gardens exploding with vibrant blooms. With two grand rooms and beautiful views of the nearby harbor, it’s clear why this Massachusetts waterfront wedding venue is a top choice for couples like Angelica and Sean.
Angelica and Sean’s New England nuptials were a picture of classic coastal charm made even more special by the blending of two cultures. This multicultural wedding will go down as one of my favorites! Angelica’s personalized details can be seen from start to finish! The photos I captured of this amazing couple near the lighthouse were timeless and the historical aspects of the venue itself were unforgettable. However, it was the in-between moments that stand out to me.
Specifically, seeing the women closest to the bride come together for a Haitian prayer was incredible! Following dinner, guests hit the dance floor. They waved a combination of American and Haitain flags in a tribute to the newlyweds which was truly unique and such a fun detail for me to capture. Angelica and Sean did a phenomenal job of nurturing a relationship between the three of us. This resulted in more personalized photos and an all-around better gallery at the end of the day. I knew what was important to them and got a good feel for who they are as a couple. The images reflect the communication we shared. I’m beyond proud to have been chosen as their photographer and equally as proud of the work I completed that day at a memorable venue for an even more memorable couple!
For couples who have their hearts set on nuptials with classic New England details, Barker House should be a top contender. The picturesque location makes it ideal for showstopping wedding photos and a luxurious experience for couples and guests alike. With two options for ceremony locations on site, couples have freedom to choose the setting that best fits their vision without sacrificing aesthetic.
For all of its perks, I would advise my future couples to consider its proximity to the nearest major airport. If your guest list consists of a significant number of out-of-state guests, keep this in mind. Because this venue is roughly an hour away from Logan International, transportation will need to be considered. There aren’t a ton of hotels in the area either, so keep lodging in mind. It’s totally doable, but you’ll want to book those hotel blocks early! In my opinion, the tiny bit more planning it requires is completely worth it for this coastal gem.
