When you combine a whirlwind romance like Aubrey and Dillan’s with views of an Italian waterfront village, you get a destination wedding that is pure magic! These two celebrated their one year anniversary with a romantic getaway to Lake Como in Calozzo, Italy. They exchanged vows surrounded by their closest people in one of the dreamiest places on the planet. This intimate gathering was a textbook example of why less is sometimes more on your wedding day!
Lake Como is a stunning location that has a bright sun that just feels different than anywhere else in the world. It’s truly an area you have to see and experience in person to fully appreciate. Scenery aside, a wedding abroad just made sense for Aubrey and Dillan who work as a flight attendant and a pilot. They allowed for plenty of time during their visit to immerse themselves in the local culture outside of the venue.
The newlyweds and their small group of family & friends explored the streets of the cities surrounding the lake for an unforgettable trip. This area isn’t just beautiful, it’s experiential! Planning a destination wedding in the area? Be sure to pack layers. The weather can change quickly. Also, consider booking a boat tour. It’s a great way to get stunning photos and see many of the famous villas and historic buildings along the lake.
In keeping with the intimate theme of their destination wedding, Aubrey and Dillan chose Villa la Felice as their venue. I love a venue that has sleeping arrangements for close friends and family! It helps to cater to a closer, more intimate experience, and Villa la Felice fit the bill. La Felice felt very private, but it’s also not far from transportation. This is especially convenient for those seeking adventure during their stay. This cozy but luxurious venue is ideal for a small group. The atmosphere contributed to the close-knit feel of their big day (my favorite aspect!).
It may seem like it’s required to host everyone you know at your wedding, but by keeping things smaller scale, couples are able to focus more on quality over quantity. I once read about a wedding without a traditional wedding party because every guest was as close as one. That’s exactly how I would describe the vibe of Aubrey & Dillan’s day, and I’d love to photograph more weddings like theirs!
Aubrey and Dillan’s destination wedding had all the feeling of a backyard ceremony, but with a view. While they kept things close knit, it lacked nothing in the aesthetics! Their La Felice wedding was vibrant, classic, and full of personal touches after a morning spent with their favorite people. Aubrey’s dress was the picture of timeless elegance, and the florals paired with the waterfront views epitomized romance. They enjoyed wine and dancing beneath cafe lights after spending some time out on the water. Family & friends joined in with congratulatory hugs and celebration all around! It truly was an unforgettable wedding celebration and Aubrey & Dillan were able to share that with their closest circle. They relaxed and took in the day without the added stress of a strict timeline or the pressure of visiting with 100+ guests. Who doesn’t dream of that for their wedding day?!
