There are some places that simply feel made for celebrating, and Greenvale Vineyards in Portsmouth, Rhode Island is one of them. Antonia & Andrew’s Greenvale Vineyards wedding brought together everything I love about photographing in this part of the state. Their day had it all: waterfront views, rows of vines, New England charm, and that laid-back Rhode Island ease that makes a wedding day feel effortless.

Rhode Island as a whole has this calm, coastal energy that’s hard to describe until you’re standing in the middle of it. This venue is no exception. Greenvale Vineyards RI has been owned by the same family since 1863 and has functioned as a vineyard for more than two decades. You can feel their years of experience and passion for their craft in how smoothly everything runs. Not only are they experts, they also have a curated list of preferred vendors. The venue offers multiple ceremony and reception spaces, and a team that genuinely cares about the flow of the day.

Because of its popularity, this location books quickly, especially in the summer. If you’re dreaming of a warm-weather celebration here, plan ahead! I cannot express that part enough. With Newport so close, your guests have plenty to explore if they want to extend their stay and make a full weekend out of it. Keep in mind, Newport also fills up fast, hotels get pricey, and your guests will appreciate having plenty of time to make travel arrangements.

If you’re researching Greenvale Vineyards wedding cost, the venue does have a few requirements worth noting. For guest counts over 50, the venue requires valet service. Weddings with more than 100 guests must also have a uniformed police officer on site, arranged directly by the venue. And for celebrations over 185 guests, the town requires a fire marshal to be present for the duration of the event, typically costing around $50 per hour.

Greenvale also serves only their estate-grown wines, which is genuinely a perk. A tasting is included during the planning process, and couples can even add personalized neck cards to their bottles if they want a custom touch for $20/case. With the expertise this venue offers along with the unmatched scenery, it’s a fantastic option for a classic coastal wedding.

Antonia’s wedding look was the perfect blend of refined and effortless. She wore a fitted trumpet gown with a sweetheart neckline and soft, monochromatic floral detailing that added texture without overwhelming the dress. Her veil was a show-stopper — long, airy, and dramatic in the best way. They chose to exchange vows right in the heart of the vineyard, with the Sakonnet River sparkling in the distance and yellow mums lining the aisle. It was simple, elegant, and exactly the kind of setting that lets you stay fully present with your people. And this was a family-forward day from start to finish, including their flower girls in their tiny flower crowns, with multiple generations celebrating together.

For couples considering a New England vineyard wedding, this day was a perfect example of how simple touches can create a beautiful atmosphere. Antonia and Andrew kept their décor timeless: pale blue linens, rattan-style charger plates, yellow and white florals, and menus decorated with hand-drawn coastal illustrations — crabs, shells, lobsters, coral. It felt unfussy and inviting, like a relaxed dinner party with the best view in town. Cocktail hour took place on the terrace overlooking the vines, and guests eased into the evening with the river in the background. Their biggest priority was simple. They didn’t want anything overly formal, but they did want to ensure fun for everyone in attendance. And they delivered.

The reception was one of the most energetic I’ve photographed in years! The dance floor was packed from the first song to the last with toddlers, grandparents, and everyone in between. At one point someone started limbo, and it was the first time I’d seen that in almost twelve years. The highlight of the night was their live band, Hype Creek Band, who kept the crowd going without a single lull.

Their first dance was to “You’re Still the One” by Shania Twain, a nod to their eight-and-a-half years together since meeting right after college. It set the tone for a night that felt genuine, joyful, and completely centered on their relationship. They seamlessly curated a thoughtful, comfortable setting that let their personalities lead for a truly unforgettable New England wedding.
