izzy + neil || elopement at lake crescent

There’s something so honest and magical about elopements. Being witness to two people committing to one another without the fanfare and insanity of throwing a huge wedding is sometimes just what you need when it comes to this job. This elopement was so small that I actually was one of their witnesses on their marriage license!

On a slightly damp Tuesday in March, Patsy and I headed up north to Port Angeles, WA. It’d been raining nonstop for a while, so everything was fresh and green as we drove the 3 hours from home. We got to the small but quaint Airbnb on a farm and got to know these two awesome people while watching Wayne’s World. Learning all about their lives, the places they’d been and experiences they’d had, it was so relaxed and really made the whole day that much special.  Izzy had the most beautiful handmade purple gown, a change from tradition but it fit her personality so well!

We drove out 30 minutes from the rental, past Camp David Jr to the North Shore Rec Area on Lake Crescent. We made our way down to the dock, and I gasped at how beautiful the day was. Misty and overcast, it felt like we had escaped Washington and had entered into some mystical fantasy land. The ceremony was short but extremely personal, with both of them writing their own vows to each other. During Neil’s vows the rain descended, but I didn’t even notice until Patsy brought over her umbrella! The beauty and honesty of the landscape and the moment had entranced me!

It was such a blessing getting to know these two, and I wish them all the best in their journey in life!
